Prof. Mohan Kameswaran MBBS, MS, FRCS(Ed), FAMS, DLO, DSc 

 

Professor Mohan Kameswaran, is the Managing Director & Senior Consultant of Madras ENT Research Foundation (P) Ltd, Honorary Distinguished Professor, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University & Honorary Professor, Department of ENT, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Kattankulathur and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, Lancashire, UK. He is a distinguished Professor of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai.

 

He has been a recipient of the ‘PADMA SHRI’ National Award from the Former President, His Excellency Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Government of India in recognition of his distinguished and exceptional service in the field of Medicine in 2006. 

 

He has also been a recipient of the prestigious award from Medical Council of India ‘DR. B.C.ROY AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2008’ for the development of specialties in different branches in medicine from the Former President of India, His Excellency Shri. Pranab Mukherjee in 2016.

 

He was also awarded the prestigious ‘Indo-Australian Award’ for Meritorious Service by the Indo-Australian Association in 2006.

He was the recipient of ‘For the sake of Honor Award’ by Rotary club of Madras Esplanade in 2006. 

He was the recipient of ‘Award for Excellence of Service’ in appreciation of contribution to Pioneering Cochlear Implant Program in Srilanka, by the President of Srilanka, in 2006.

He was the recipient of ‘Award for Service’ from Vidya Jyothi Sir Arthur C. Clarke, Srilanka in 2006.

He was Conferred ‘Award of Excellence’ in appreciation of outstanding contribution towards the` Cochlear Implant Group of India by His Excellency, the Governor of Kerala, in 2006. 

He was awarded the ‘Shri Shyam Lal Saxena Memorial Award 2005-2006’ by the National Academy of Medical Sciences for the best-published work in the field of bio-medical engineering by bio-medical scientists. 

He was conferred the prestigious ‘Tamilnadu Scientist Award-2007’ by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology,  Government of Tamil Nadu in 2008.

He was conferred ‘Doctor of Science (Honoris–Causa)’ award by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University in 2008.

He was conferred the ‘Best Doctor Award in 2011’ from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R.Medical University in 2012.

He was conferred the ‘Scroll of Honour’ from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R.Medical University in 2012. 

He was nominated as ‘Goodwill Ambassador for India’ from the American Academy at 2013 Global Health Symposium at the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO in Vancouver, Sept - Oct 2, 2013. 

He was honored for  ‘Dedicated Services” at the Upgraded Institute of Otorhinolaryngology, Madras Medical College, Chennai, October 2013. 

He was conferred ‘Doctor of Science (Honoris–Causa)’, Saveetha University in 2013.

He received the ‘Appreciation Award’ for Excellent Organization of AOICON 2011 at the 66th Annual Conference of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India AOICON 2014, Mysore, January 2014. 

First Indian Otologist to be appointed as a Visiting Professor in Otology 2015 by Journal of Laryngology & Otology (JLO) and Royal Society of Medicine, United Kingdom. 

He is also the recipient of ‘Best Doctor Award – 2015’ for his best performance from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu.

He was conferred Honorary Fellowship of The Indian Academy of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in August 2016. 

He received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the 10th SAARC ENT Conference conducted at Dhaka, Bangladesh in November 2016.

He received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R.Medical University in 2016. 

He is also the recipient of ‘Outstanding Leadership Award’ in recognition of his ‘Pioneering spirit in the field of Cochlear Implants’ at the 1st World Congress on Cochlear Implants in Emerging countries’ Dubai, 2016.

In recognition of his noble service to the hearing impaired he was bestowed the ‘Best Doctor Award 2016-17’ by Government of Tamil Nadu in 2017.  

He received the Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition of his contribution in the field of Otorhinolaryngology, outstanding achievement & exemplary service to  humanity from the Association of Otorhinolaryngologists of India, Coimbatore Chapter in June 2017. 

He is a recipient of Nikhil J. Bhatt ‘International Humanitarian Award’ at the 122nd American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, Atlanta, USA in October 2018 for his unique commitment to the specialty.

He was conferred ‘Doctor of Science (Honoris–Causa)’ SRM Institute of Science & Technology in 2018. 

He received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from the 14th Edition of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, FICCI TANCARE in 2022.

He received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, from the Upgraded Institute of Otorhinolaryngology Golden Jubilee 1972 – 2022. Madras Medical College, 2022. 

He was one of the 10 best ENT surgeons in the world to receive ‘Gold Medal of Honour’ at the highest ENT Body - International Federation of Otorhinological Societies (IFOS) at Dubai, 2023. 

He was also bestowed the ‘Doyen of Ear Surgery’ at Government Stanley Medical College & Hospital in February 2024. 

 

He is the Regional Secretary for South and Western Asia, International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Societies (IFOS), & was former Board Member of the Politzer Society Inc.  He was also the President of Asia Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implants and its related science (APSCI). 

 

He  is  one  of  the pioneers  of  Cochlear  Implant  Surgery  in  India and has Mentored and was responsible for starting Cochlear Implant surgery in 45 centers in India, and in 7 centers overseas including Sri Lanka, Armed Forces Hospital in Bangladesh, Nigeria & Nepal. 

He is the FIRST Surgeon in South and South East Asia to have performed the Auditory Brainstem Implant and the FIRST Pediatric Brainstem Implant in Asia, January 2009. 

He Mentored and was responsible to start Auditory Brainstem Implant surgery in Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore and in Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, Army R & R Hospital, Delhi and Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur

He is also the FIRST surgeon in Asia Pacific region to have performed the Totally Implantable Hearing Device surgery

 

Invited speaker to World Health Organization on World Hearing Day Seminar organized by WHO Hearing Loss and Deafness Program, Geneva in March 2018.

 

He graduated from Madras Medical College in 1977 with distinction and obtained his DLO and MS in 1981 from the same Institution. He received several Gold Medals including the Chipperfield Gold Medal for Surgery and Dr. P.V.  Cherian Gold Medal for the best outgoing MS student in the University.


He is a Fellow  of  the Royal  College  of  Surgeons (Edinburgh), Fellow  of  the International College  of  Surgeons  and  Fellow of Tamil Nadu  Academy  of  Sciences. He is the youngest ENT Surgeon to become a Fellow of Academy of Medical Sciences. He is also the Founder President of Cochlear Implant Group of India - an exclusive grouping of Cochlear Implant Surgeons and professionals in the country. He is also the Founder President of Indian Academy of Oto Rhino Laryngology  and Head and Neck Surgery. He is also Founder of Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnoea and Tamil Nadu Association of Otorhinolaryngologists of India. 

He  was  formerly  an  Associate  Professor  of  Otorhinolaryngology, King  Saud University,  Kingdom  of  Saudi  Arabia.
 

He  has  Edited  a  text  book  on  ENT  Diseases  in  a  Tropical Environment  &  two  operative manuals  -  one  on  Temporal  Bone  Surgery   and  the  other  on  Skull  Base  Surgery. He is in the Editorial Board of several International & National Journals. He has written a FOREWORD in the American Journal of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Medicine and Surgery.

 

He has over 190 publications, in major National & International journals, written chapters in 19 text books, has attended & presented papers in over 600 National and International conferences including webinars, has been an invited lecturer in several of them. He has conducted & attended over 375 workshops on Temporal Bone Surgery, Skull Base Surgery, Live Laser surgery and Audiology for Surgeons etc. He has conducted above 300 Free ENT camps and has visited over 50 countries for various academic and professional meetings. He has delivered over 90 Orations in major conferences

 

He is the only Indian to have been invited to give Guest Oration at the 12th British Academy Conference in Otolaryngology, United Kingdom in 2006 and has also been invited to give Instructional courses in World Congress of Otolaryngology, Sao Paulo and the American Academy of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery 2009.   He has been an Examiner in ENT for several Universities in the country and abroad. 

 

He is a very simple and self-effacing human being with a deep empathy for the under privileged and a strong social commitment. In short, he is an embodiment of a dynamic surgeon, brilliant academician, great leader, good teacher and an emulation and inspiration for everyone to follow.

Prof. R. S. Anand Kumar MBBS, MS, DLO, MAMS

 

Prof. R. S. Anand Kumar, is Senior ENT consultant and Academic Director of Madras ENT Research Foundation (P) Ltd, Chennai & Senior Consultant ENT surgeon in the city of Chennai, since 1981 with nearly 43 years of experience in the field. He was the Coordinator for the Diploma in National Board of Examinations 2001-2022. He is the academic coordinator for the Post Doctoral Fellowship in Implantation Otology and Co-guide for the PhD program in Otorhinolaryngology, Audiology and speech and language pathology recognized by The Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.. He completed MBBS from Madras Medical College in 1977, with an excellent academic record and received his M.S. ENT from Madras Medical College in 1981. From 1981 he is practicing as ENT Consultant till date. He is also the NABH coordinator for MERF. 

His special interest is in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Cochlear Implantation for Hearing impaired children and Laser Surgery in ENT. He was also in the Surgical Team to do "First Brainstem Implant" in South and SouthEast Asia. He had specialized international training for Cochlear Implantation in Melbourne and Sydney in 1996 and in Laser Surgery in ENT in the UK in 1999. He has over 15 publications in major Journals and has participated in over 30 National & International Conferences. He has held the position of Founder Honorary Treasurer of Association of Otorhinolaryngology of India South Zone Branch and Tamil Nadu State Branch. He is now the treasurer for IAOHNS. He has conducted various South Zone conferences, All India AOI conferences, CIGICONs and TNAOI conferences. He also has organized around 72 Temporal bone workshops and numerous Live surgeries workshops.

He is a Doctor with deep social commitment and has participated in over 100 free camps to render service to people in rural areas. He was also awarded the “Best Doctor Award” from The Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu in 2012. He has the Distinction of being awarded the MAMS from the National Academy of Medical Sciences. He is Fellow of the International College of Surgeons.

Dr. Sathiya Murali MBBS, DLO, DNB, MNAMS, PhD

 

She is one of the outstanding neuro-otologists in India and heads the Department of Balance disorders and the Vestibular lab at Madras ENT Research Foundation. 

She has presented her original work at the "International Symposium on serious fungal diseases'' at Cannes, France. She attended Annual Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course at Singapore General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute and participated in Advanced Otology workshop organized by Prof. Ugo Fisch, Fisch Foundation at Mumbai. Her interests are in the field of Neurotology & Vestibular Medicine. She had special training in audio vestibular lab at Uniklinik, University of Achen, Germany in 2007.She has over 25 yrs experience in ENT and Head & Neck surgery. She is also a recipient of CIGI award from Cochlear Implant Group of India. 

 

She graduated from Coimbatore Medical College, and subsequently obtained her DLO and DNB.She is a  Doctor of Philosophy PhD on “ Factors influencing cortical auditory evoked potentials in cochlear implantees” from The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University,Chennai,March 2018.

 

She is a teaching faculty in MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, and conducts special courses and hands-on training for students in vestibular medicine. Her other special interests are in Laser surgery, Endoscopic sinus surgery, Skull base surgery,Cochlear Implant and Micro ear surgery.

Dr. Kiran Natarajan MBBS, DLO, DNB, MNAMS

 

Dr. Kiran Natarajan is an ENT consultant with over 25 years experience in ENT and Head & Neck surgery. She is an ENT Consultant at Madras ENT Research Foundation (P) Ltd, Chennai from 2005 onwards and Visiting faculty, Madras ENT Research Foundation Institute of Speech and Hearing, Chennai from 2005 till date.  Her interests are in the field of micro ear surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery and microlaryngeal surgery. She has been a teaching faculty in MERF for DNB ENT postgraduates and a faculty in temporal bone dissection workshops since the last 20 years.

 

She is a faculty in MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing for otorhinolaryngology training for students of audiology and speech pathology, She obtained her DLO from Madras Medical College, Chennai & DNB from Madras ENT Research Foundation. She was a national topper and was the recipient of 'Prof. S .Kameswaran Gold Medal' in the National Board of Examinations in the year 2002. She has received awards for paper presentations in the 6th  Annual conference, The Cochlear Implant Group of India, Bangalore, Nov 2008, 7th South Zone ENT Conference & Kerala State Conference, Calicut in 2011,  9th South Zone and 16th Tamil Nadu State Annual Conference, Thiruchirapalli in October 2013,  10th South zone and 32nd Karnataka State Annual ENT Conference, October 2014, Bangalore, CIGICON 2017 at Visakhapatnam, 3, 4th Oct 2017 and CIGICON 2023,  31st august – 2 sept, 2023 at Chennai.

 

She is a membership of learned Societies and Scientific Bodies such as Indian Medical Association, Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), Cochlear Implant Group of India (CIGI), Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnea (IASSA), National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) and Indian Association of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery (IAOHNS). She has participated in several academic meetings, symposia, conferences, and  workshops in India and abroad. She has been involved in promotion of medical education & participated in several CME programs. She has more than 70 paper / poster presentations in ENT conferences and has more than 75 article publications / book chapters in ENT journals and textbooks. She is a reviewer for article publications in ENT journals. She has participated in several free ENT camps for providing otolaryngology services to the needy, conducted across TamilNadu since the last twenty five years.

Dr. Raghu Nandhan MBBS, MS, DNB, MNAMS, FRCS(Ed), MCh, PhD

 

Dr. Raghu Nandhan is Consultant ENT Surgeon at Madras ENT Research Foundation (MERF), Chennai, a premier tertiary referral ENT training Institute in South India.He specializes in Neuro-Otology, Auditory Implantation & Skull-Base Surgery having received higher surgical training from reputed centers in the UK, namely Salford Royal Hospital in Manchester and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, overseas member of ENT UK and the prestigious British Cochlear Implant Group. He has a decade of experience with Cochlear & Brainstem Implants at MERF, which is today one of the largest centers in the world for Implantation Otology and he is currently the clinical lead for Otology at this Institute.

He holds a PhD in Cochlear Implant Audiology and is also the Research Lead at MERF with keen interest in spearheading the various ongoing and future research programs of the institution. He has around 70 publications in indexed medical journals and has presented research papers in international conferences around the world, where he has received prestigious awards including the APSCI Award, in Korea 2011; APCD Award in Singapore, 2012 and BSBS Award in Cardiff, 2017.

He has co-authored 7 textbook chapters and is one of the very few Indian authors to write chapters in Scott-Brown and Logan-Turner. Apart from his passion to be a competent clinician and skilled surgeon, he dedicates his professional time to being a researcher, academic, medical leader, teacher and trainer for his peers and junior colleagues.

Dr. Raghu started his medical career in 1994 when he joined MBBS in the reputed Kasturba Medical College Manipal, MAHE University, Karnataka. He was an avid academic during his undergraduate days and won the Anatomy Gold-medal along with awards of distinction in Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Social & Preventive Medicine and Obstetrics Gynaecology.During internship he developed a keen desire to become a surgeon and he soon chose the field of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery.He joined Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai and completed his postgraduate training - MS(ENT)in 2004. He began his ENT career at MadrasENT Research Foundation (MERF), Chennai soon after completing his Master degree, starting as an observer and then progressing onto a Senior Registrar and then Otology Fellow with Prof. Mohan Kameswaran. During this time, he passed the Diplomate of National Board Examinations (ENT) in 2005 & was elected as a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences(MNAMS) in 2006.

He then traveled to the United Kingdom seeking higher training and obtained the Diplomat Membership in ENT andHead & Neck Surgery – DOHNS (Eng), from the Royal College of Surgeons Of England In 2006 and further passed the Intercollegiate MRCS (General Surgery)examination to be elected as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – MRCS (Ed)in 2008.During this period he completed a clinical attachment with the reputed Otology- Skull Base surgeon Prof. Richard Ramsden at Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK and also visited centers of excellence including St.George's Hospital in Brixton and St.Mary's Hospital in London to gain a firsthand exposure of Advanced Otology.

Upon return to India he took a sabbatical for one year from routine ENT practice to receive special surgical training in Cranio-facial, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai and in Head & NeckOncosurgery from Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, Chennai before joining back inMERF as a Junior Consultant. During this time, he pursued a PhD registered with Sri Ramachandra University and jointly guided by Prof. Mohan Kameswaran at MERF and Prof. A. Ravikumar at SRMC & RI. Thereby he became the first PhD scholar for both MERF and the ENT Dept of Sri Ramachandra University. He received his doctorate in Cochlear Implant audiology and auditory electrophysiology in 2014 after seven years of fruitful research and his thesis, the first of its kind in India, has received international acclaim with global citations in this field today.

Dr. Raghu got a further opportunity to visit UK once again in 2014, when ENT UK and the Association of Medical Royal Colleges (AOMRC),jointly sponsored him through the Medical Training Initiative for International Medical Graduates scheme to undergo subspecialty higher surgical training in his chosen field of interest -Neuro-Otology, Auditory Implantation and Skull-Base Surgery in the UK. Thus he worked as a Specialist Registrar in the Manchester Skull Base Unit for two years with Prof. Simon Lloyd and Mr.Simon Freeman, Otology-Skullbase surgeonswho had then succeeded Prof. Ramsden in Manchester.

During this period he was part of the higher surgical training program of Northwest England, under Training Program Director Prof. Nirmal Kumar completed his FRCS (ORL-HNS) to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016. Of note, he was the only overseas Indian doctor in his batch to pass this prestigious exam in the first attempt, which helped to uphold the regional UK record for a decade of 100% pass rates for FRCS trainees appearing from Northwest England.He also simultaneously pursued the RCSEng accredited MCh ENT course at Edge Hill University, Lancashire, UK during this period under Prof. Nirmal Kumar's supervision. He is the first international MCh student of Edge Hill University and upon graduation, he has now been appointed as an Overseas Faculty of the MChcourse of Edge Hill University and coordinates with the University from India to select and guide prospective Indian ENT surgeons who wish to visit the UK for training in future.

Dr. Raghu subsequently got the prestigious International Neuro-Otology, Auditory Implants and Skull-Base Surgery Fellowship for 2016-2017 at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospitals, Birmingham (the biggest hospital in UK and the largest Implantation and skull base center in UK) where he trained with Prof. Richard Irving, one of UK's eminent Otology-Skull Base surgeons and was also part of the West Midlands Hearing Implant Team for one year. He has now joined the elite Alumni Club of Birmingham Fellows who hail from different corners of the world including Great Britain, Ireland, Holland, South Africa, Oman, Malaysia and Australia. During his tenure in Birmingham he was elected as an International Member of the prestigious British Cochlear Implant Group (BCIG) for his contributions in the field of cochlear implantation which includes his PhD doctoral thesis, along with a series of International and National accolades for original research awarded in the APSCI 2011 (Korea), APCD 2012 (Singapore)and a hat-trick of medals at CIGICON from 2010 to 2012 in India. He is one of the very few Indian ENT surgeons to possess life time International Membership to BCIG and ENT UK associations with full voting rights apart from being an overseas Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. During his fellowship in Birmingham he also got the coveted UK National award at the British Skull Base Society Annual Conference, BSBS 2017 for his work on Lateral Skull Base Cancer Management - a unique honor for an overseas doctor working in the UK.

He has around70 publications in indexed peer-reviewed international medical journals till date and has presented research papers in various International conferences around the world and across India. He continues to coordinate ongoing academic and research projects with the Faculty at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and scientists at the University of Birmingham. He has co-authored 7 textbook chapters and is one of the very few Indian authors to get the honor of writing a chapter in the next edition of Scott-Brown's Otolaryngology Textbook (considered as the Bible of ENT surgery) and also in Logan-Turner (one of the oldest ENT textbooks published from UK).

After successfully completing his higher surgical training, he recently returned back home to Chennai, to take charge of the Dept of Otology & Auditory Implants at MERF. He is currently involved in setting up a state-of-the-art Skull-Base unit at MERF with multidisciplinary inputs from a team of Neurosurgeons, Plastic Surgeons and Maxillofacial Surgeons, in order to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex skull-base pathology. He is also the Research Lead at MERF with keen interest in spearheading the ongoing and future research programs of the institution. Apart from his passion to succeed as a competent clinician and skilled surgeon, he dedicates his professional time to being a researcher, academic, medical leader, teacher and trainer for his peers and junior colleagues. Dr. Vijaya Krishnan P MBBS, DLO, DNB, MNAMS

 

He graduated from Tirunelveli Medical College, Tirunelveli in 2000 and obtained his DLO from Madurai Medical College, Madurai in 2004. He qualified the Diplomate of National Board Exams from National Board of Examinations, New Delhi in 2007. He is a Consultant ENT surgeon at Madras ENT Research Foundation and a teaching faculty in MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing.

His interest is in the field of Sleep Disorders and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and he heads this department. He is a Member of World Association of Sleep Medicine. He organized Live Surgical Workshop On "Obstructive Sleep Apnoea" – Current Concepts in Dec 2007 & 2009 and on Balloon Sinuplasty '08 in Oct 2008.As a Joint secretary,he conducted the 63rd Annual National Conference of Otolaryngologists of India AOICON2011 at Chennai. He conducted the First National Conference on Snoring and Sleep Disorders IASSACON2013 at Chennai.

He has had special training in Sleep Related Breathing Disorders, at Euro Sleep Clinic, Bergen, Norway. He has presented papers in the 4th International World Sleep Congress and 5th Conference of the Canadian Sleep Society in Quebec City, Canada.

He has conducted Instructional courses on Sleep Apnoea in International Federation of Otorhinolaryngology IFOS2013, Korea and also in the 5th International World Sleep Congress at Valencia, Spain. He has been invited as an Instructor for the Hands on Training and Cadaver Dissection course for OSA at Singapore General Hospital, Singapore. He has been invited as a Faculty to participate in Panel Discussions and to deliver Guest Lectures in various National and International conferences.

He is the only Indian in the International Scientific Committee member of World Sleep Society and is the Founder Secretary and Current President of Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnoea.

 

He is the reviewer of various International Journals like International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology and is an Editorial Board member of Austin's International Journal of Sleep Disorders.

 

Currently he is the Consultant at Madras ENT Research Foundation, Chennai and Heads the Dept. of Snoring & Sleep Apnoea.

He is also the Teaching faculty at MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, Chennai, Theory & Clinical teacher in ENT for undergraduate students - BASLP and MASLP Course.

He is the Mentor for IASSA CTP program for Snoring & Sleep Apnoea, training candidates across India.

Dr. Sudhamaheswari S MBBS, DNB, MNAMS

She graduated from Thanjavur medical College, Thanjavur & obtained her DNB from Madras ENT Research Foundation. She has been a Consultant ENT surgeon at Madras ENT Research Foundation, Mandaiveli centre from 2008 to 2020 and Consultant at Madras ENT Research Foundation since 2009. She is a teaching faculty in MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing.  

 

She has special interest in the field of Genetics,Voice and Swallowing. She has special focus in the field of Community Otorhinolaryngology. She regularly heads a team of doctors to the rural areas of Tamil Nadu to screen for hearing loss and identify ENT disorders prevalent in the community free of cost. She has completed her doctoral research work on the “Genetics of Congenital hearing loss in South Indian population”.

 

She heads the Genetics and community otolaryngology department at MERF and is incharge of the Voice and swallowing clinic. She is the recipient of the Dr. Sandra de Souza gold medal, the AOI SOUTH ZONE GOLD MEDAL, the Senior consultant IAOHNS gold medal and the CIGI Award.

 

She has also received the American academy International visiting scholarship award and did Observership in the ENT department at New York Presbyetarian hospital and at Loyola Medical University at Chicago. She was an Invited Faculty at the APSCI conference held at Cyprus and “World DNA day conference” held at Dalian, China. She has several notable publications to her credit in National and International Journals.

Dr. Sarrath Rathnaraajan MBBS, MS

He graduated from Meenakshi Medical College and Research Institute, Kanchipuram in 2011 and MS (ENT) from Aarupadai veedu medical college, Pondicherry in 2016. He is a Consultant ENT surgeon at Madras ENT Research Foundation and a teaching faculty in MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing. His interest is in the field of Head and Neck surgery. He is the consultant incharge of the vestibular lab. He has received the International visiting scholarship award by the American academy (AAO-HNS 2018). He has done a Academic observership in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck surgery at New York Langone health. He was the Organising secretary for the Indo- Scottish Head & Neck CME held one 2019. He was a Joint secretary for the “MERF OTOVAGANZA” workshop and conference. He is the NABH and the Quality in charge of the hospital.

Dr. Madhavan Jagannath MBBS, MD

Dr. Madhavan Jagannath MD, passed his MBBS from JNMC, Belgaum and MD from KMC, Hubli, has more than 40 years experience in the field of Anaesthesiology, and heads the Department of Anaesthesiology. His present interest is in the management of anaesthesia in patients for Cochlear Implants for deaf children and Laser surgeries. To his credit he has anaesthetized the maximum number of cases of Cochlear Implants, the highest in the country. He also anaesthetized the first Brain Stem Implant in Chennai, along with his team which was first of its kind in South East Asia.
He has taken part as a faculty member in many National and International conferences.
He has a vast exposure and knowledge regarding the management of anaesthesia for laser surgeries. He has been a mentor for many anaesthetists in India and abroad teaching them the knowledge and art of anaesthesia techniques for Laser Surgery.
His inputs in the field of Anaesthesia was recognized by The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University, which awarded him the "Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012".

He is a Senior Pulmonologist and certified Allergist and has experience of 23 yrs. He has a special interest in the field of Allergy and Immunotherapy and underwent a "Clinical fellowship in Allergy" in Southampton United Kingdom. Had his training in  Interventional pulmonology from the USA & Europe and Lung transplantation training from Australia. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians USA and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society. He was conferred the "Best Doctor" Award from The Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University in 2012.

She completed her Fellowship in Diabetology at Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre in 2012. 

She obtained her Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management by Public Health Federation of India in 2012. 

She worked as a Consultant Diabetologist at Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, Gopalapuram, Chennai. 

She is a life member of Research Society for the study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI)
